Q&A with Hailey

How did you first get into modeling, and what was the moment you realized it was something you wanted to pursue seriously?

I got in to modeling because I love being creative and of course I love fashion. After one of my first school talent shows I realized how much I loved being on stage and I decided I was going to be a famous model one day! I decided I didn’t want to persuade soccer anymore and to be a model. After a few of my first modeling classes and I learned more about the industry, I knew this was something I wanted to work hard at.

Between tumbling at Platinum Athletic Cheer, playing soccer, practicing the piano, and your love for art, how does your creative and athletic background help you when you are on the runway or in front of the camera?

My love for Art, practicing the piano, soccer, and cheer I have learned teamwork and to never give up even when things go wrong. This has helped me so much with modeling because sometimes I make mistakes on the runway but I know to not give up and keep practicing. And there is no I in TEAM you have to help others when they don’t know what to do or are dining something wrong. Piano has taught me to be patient and to stay focused. Art helps me be creative and how to express all my emotions and being creative helps me with my poses in the runway!

Congratulations on being part of The Stitch Don't Ditch sustainable fashion showcase in Jersey City! What was it like walking for local designers in an eco-conscious fashion event?

It was such an exciting experience! I loved getting to wear really cool deigns and meeting so many new and talented people. I am proud that I was apart of something that has a really great message to it.

You recently competed at the IMTA New York convention and placed in the Top 10 Pre-Teen Model of the Year with fantastic callbacks! What was your favorite memory from that experience?

My favorite memory was supporting and cheering on my team at each and everyone’s competitions. I saw so many talented people, which was really cool. I am now even closers with my team because of IMTA! Placing in the top ten preteen model of the year and reviving many callbacks made me feel proud! It showed me that all of my hard work and effort paid off.

With all the amazing feedback and callbacks you received at IMTA, what is the biggest lesson you learned that you will take with you to your next casting?

The biggest lesson I learned is to be myself. Confidence is key! Confidence comes from believing in yourself and not trying to be someone else. I also learned that every audition is a change to grow, no mater what happens.

We hear you are super talented with hair and makeup! Do you ever get to style your own looks, and what is your go-to creative look?

Yes! I really love doing my hair and makeup because it lets me be creative. I love trying different hairstyles and keeping my makeup fresh and natural with a little pop of color or a little sparkle. It’s so fun to create looks to match your outfit or different themes.

When you are not busy modeling, practicing sports, or taking lessons, what is your absolute favorite way to hang out and have fun with your friends?

I enjoy going shopping, going to the pool or the beach, of course I’m always up for some Starbucks. We do TikTok dances and ride bikes. We also go to the movies. I even enjoy just laughing and making fun memories together.

If you could dream of becoming a brand ambassador for any of your favorite clothing or lifestyle brands right now, who would it be?

I would love to be a brand ambassador for Nike because I love being active and their message encourages people to work hard and believe in themselves. I also love brands that inspire confidence and help kids express their own style.

Building confidence when speaking with agents and judges is one of your goals—what advice would you give to other young performers who feel nervous stepping into this industry?

It’s totally normal to feel nervous because everyone does sometimes. My biggest advice is to just be yourself and not worry about being perfect. Believe in yourself, smile, and have fun. Every audition, runway show, or photoshoot is a chance to learn something new, and each experience helps you become more confident. The more you put yourself out there, the easier it gets, and you might surprise yourself with what you can do. You got this!
